- Target group
- The target groups are university staff (teachers, administrators, managers), students, business representatives, policymakers, representatives from higher education organisations, as well as the broader public.
- Objective
- By bringing together experts and stakeholders from across Europe and Asia, the seminar aims to foster mutual learning, promote practical cooperation and highlight effective approaches from both regions.
Date: 7 October 2026, 9:30 – 11:30 (CEST, UTC+2).
As learning pathways become more diverse and lifelong learning becomes increasingly important, AI-driven skill mapping can help higher education institutions make learning outcomes more visible and strengthen the connection between education and evolving labour market needs.
Bringing together experts from higher education and policy across Asia and Europe, the event will explore both the opportunities and challenges of AI-supported approaches to skills recognition and development.
Rather than focusing solely on technological solutions, the discussion will examine how AI tools and skills intelligence frameworks can support learners, institutions, employers and policymakers in navigating increasingly dynamic labour markets, while also addressing broader questions of transparency, fairness, governance and the responsible use of AI.
Background
As part of the Asia-Europe Meeting’s (ASEM) Education Process, the DAAD coordinates the ASEM Expert Group on Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
As part of its ongoing online event series on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, the Expert Group on Digitalisation and AI, in cooperation with the ASEM Education Secretariat (AES), has already organised the following online seminars:
- 2023: “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Learning & Teaching in Higher Education”
- 2024: “Best Practices on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education”
- 2025: “AI Skills: Are Universities Preparing Graduates for Labour Market Needs?”
This series aims to explore the evolving role of AI in higher education, share good practices and foster dialogue among ASEM partners.
Participation is free of charge.
