Best Practices on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education

The DAAD, together with the ASEM Education Secretariat, will be hosting an online seminar titled “Best Practices on the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education“ on 5 November 2024. The event will be open to all interested university staff, students and stakeholders.

In the framework of the Asia-Europe Meeting’s (ASEM) education process, the DAAD coordinates the Expert Group on Digitalisation.This Expert Group works towards:
• Fostering the dialogue on the potential of digitalisation in (higher) education;
• Promoting peer learning among experts of both regions; and
• Strengthening collaboration and connectivity between Asia and Europe.

Following up on the online seminar “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Learning & Teaching in Higher Education” held in November 2023, the DAAD and the ASEM Education Secretariat will host another online seminar, this time on the practical application of AI tools in higher education. The seminar will bring together the teacher and the student perspective, encouraging the exchange of practices and requirements regarding the use of AI in today’s teaching and learning (T&L).

Confirmed speakers are Prof. Dr. Abtar Darshan Singh from the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) and Prof. Dr. Carlos Delgado Kloos from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid who will represent the teacher perspective during the public online seminar. Urszula Lis from the Warsaw University of Technology will represent the European student perspective on behalf of the European Student’s Union (ESU) and Manan Singh of the O.P. Jindal Global University will represent the Asian student perspective on behalf of the ASEAN Youth Organization (AYO).

The seminar will be moderated by Ruben Janssens from Ghent University.

Target group The target group are university staff (teachers, administrators, managers) as well as students who are interested in open exchange on practical use of AI in higher education settings; other education stakeholders are equally welcome.
