Building on Achievements of ERASMUS Intensive Programmes

European Conference on ERASMUS Intensive Programmes in Bonn

Within the framework of the New EU Programme for Lifelong Learning (2007-2013), the Intensive Programmes (IP) are now  a decentralised Erasmus activity which is managed by the National Agencies in the respective participating countries.

The European conference on Intensive Programmes took place in the “Wissenschaftszentrum” in Bonn on 10 and 11 December 2007. It was run and hosted by the National Agency for EU Higher Education Cooperation in the DAAD in collaboration with National Agencies from 18 European countries and the European Commission. The conference mainly addressed to university teachers and coordinators of Intensive Programmes who wish to share their experience with other and new colleagues across Europe and who are interested in submitting an IP proposal in 2008.

One of the major challenges the conferences  were to gather the experience in IP from across Europe with the aim of building on the achievements of the past with a perspective to the future. Topics such as how to set up and run an IP, academic recognition and integration into the curriculum as well as sustainability were addressed in the panel discussion and several workshops. A project exhibition of good practice examples from across Europe facilitated networking and intended to help participants to build new contacts.
